awesome

so last night i had this dream that i won $100K on a scratch ticket. how i wish that was true. the husband recently bought me a few. i was on a good streak. i had hit it big at 6 bucks but blew all my profits on bubble gum and candy cigarettes. in my dream, it was awesome. i was sitting at a desk checking off all of the things i was going to pay off with my winnings. oh man-reading that back i realize how boring that sounds. i even want to pay off my debts in my dreams.

what i would really do is go on vacation. i would take a 3-week jaunt before any bills got paid. i wonder what greece is like this time of year? ok- maybe while i was gone i would spring for some hotel internet and pay off my credit card for an extra thrill. oh responsibility.

(yes, those are chips...long car rides require snacks)

that movie in my head

right- so i was thinking again about the movie in my head that i never really get anywhere with. it would really help my daydreaming if i had a destination in my mind for these road-trippers in my movie.

i've had ideas but i can't decide.... should they be on a vacation? spiritual journey? important job interview? see long lost relatives? run away from home? destined to visit all NYC television landmarks? attend the funeral of their estranged father? on their way to meet the president?

and i realize that at this point your thinking that shouldn't my reoccurring daydream have some sort of focus? shouldn't you at least have what resembles a plot? how do you dream without any sort of focus? thats just it- dreams like this don't necessarily need a focus. this is not a dream that i want to become a goal- this is not a pick your passion sort of dream that will one day lead me to my destiny as a screenwriter.

this is just a way to pass the time while i sit in traffic.

of course i should just chose a destination and take it from there. i can always change it later and you never know when i might be summoned to start writing in hollywood, right?

werewolves of london

I was stuck in that famously long line of traffic on rt. 85 again this morning. the worst part is that it's dreadfully boring to sit there while no one moves. I'm not really in a big rush to get to my desk but being stuck without someone to chat with just isn't fun. to pass the time I was trying my hand at the local radio stations because the FM transmitter I bought for the ipod is worthless. so I'm scanning through the stations and I hear the faint howls of warren zevon and I was quickly reminded about my daydream of directing a road trip movie and the soundtrack that accompanies it.

I had forgotten about that daydream lately in lieu of focusing on other things that certainly less amusing. This made me happy. Now I have something to think about while stuck in that long line to get to the office! I then felt like a sheep- or worse a lemming- as I stared at the car in front of me. but we all must get paid, right?

anyway, this song would certainly make my soundtrack to the movie that as of yet has no plot. maybe tomorrow I'll work on that part of the dream?

day dreaming

long rides lead to day dreams in my world. (I do not have a dreamer catcher hanging from my rear view). lately I have a reoccurring dream about the husband and I owning a fantastic airstream trailer. oh I am in love with this dream lately. I remember I had a paper one that built from an issue of flaunt magazine. it sat on the shelf of my college apartment until I moved. I wish I still had that. I'd find it a spot on my desk at work, as a way to keep the daydreams focused.

at this point though my dream is less about where we go in this beautiful metal contraption and more about what it looks like inside. its certainly more about the dazzling retro curtains, napkin holder, and a set of cast iron cookware. its about the interior color scheme of green and yellow with red accents and vintage table cloths. its about the plastic mixing bowls, checkered linoleum floor tiles, and a red awning off the side. in my dream I sit fireside every evening in the summer and curl up in a dry cushy bed each night. I rise with the birds to make a pot of camp coffee and whip up a batch of flap jacks to share with the husband, and I never get fat. we see the country- each state- even Montana, and swim in rivers, and take pictures of locals and shop at general stores. we visit food festivals in the summer months and take in the history of the southwest after the holiday season.

ok ok I guess its about the look, the destinations, the life that owning such a piece of machinery could offer. maybe one summer we'll rent one and set sail for a while.
