a 2nd story about another kid i don't know

the dogs and i always head behind the elementary school next to our house before we venture out into the neighborhood on our walks. we were just rounding the corner near the basketball courts and i could hear kids playing. this is common as our neighborhood is busting at the seems with kids of all ages and this school has play ground, sports fields, walking trails and of course the basketball court.

we rounded the corner of the building i heard "hey there's a lady coming!". at first i was startled because this kid called me a lady, but the yelling continued "she's walking this way with her dogs!" "you better hurry up!" in a frantic tone which meant only one thing... someone was doing something bad. over the winter there had been some graffiti painters so paint or chalk was sort of what i was expecting to see.

finally, we got around the corner where the whole basketball court comes in to view. the scene is set and i am instantly aware of what was going on. there are two kids. one boy was holding a basketball (the frantic yeller) and another boy was standing with his back to me. there was an odd wet spot on the wall of the school, and then the kids yells "oh man it looks like i peed myself!".

it was all i could do not to break down right there and laugh out loud, but i figured it was better played cool so that i didn't have to confront the two little boys who were just peeing in public on their own elementary school. talk about school spirit.

sorry no diagram for this one.

a story involving a kid i do not know

on my way to work on friday morning i spotted a kid, about 10 years old, waiting for the bus. he was wearing a hugely over sized red hoodie and a big black back-pack that was stuffed to the gills. it had to have weighed almost as much as he did.

as i rolled to a stop at the end of the road, i noticed that the kid had started to twist his body back and forth like he was thinking of spinning in circles but was too lazy to get himself all the way around. instead he was just letting his red sweatshirt arms twist around his body as he moved rhythmically back and forth. i'm guessing that with the weight of the back-pack he felt some momentum build pretty quickly as he swayed back and forth. it didn't take long before he started to twirl around in circles as fast as he could, which was funny enough. he was a blur of red and black.

of course, one foul step in the long wet grass he was standing in sent him toppling over. unfortunately his road-side bus stop is on top of a pretty steep embankment. he fell right down the hill, lead-weighted backpack first and landed completely upside down and flat on his back with his legs flailing. and for a split second i did stop and look to see if he was alright-so don't worry i'm not to hell for this specifically. he was fine. i could see that he was trying to get up but the weight of his back-pack and his heels over head stance made it almost impossible. he resembled a turtle who had been flipped over on this shell. and this is when i laughed out loud at this poor kid who i'm sure was racing to get himself upright before the bus approached his stop.

(i know you're jealous of my "paint" abilities)

spotted

elusive yellow vespa scooter man, I spotted you on President's day attempting to hide behind the skinny tree in the parking lot at the starbucks. I know that you were planning your escape, trying to speed away before I could spot you and put on my blog. the word is out.
however, my head is on a swivel after all these years of being with murph. I shouted your name, "yellow vespa scooter guy!" as I drove by.

Then the husband snapped this photograph:until we meet again......
